A valuable book deserves a safe place.
My Legacy is yours. You decide what goes in it, who may read it and when. These five tips keep the book safe, and easy to find for those who need it.
Choose a fixed, dry place
For example a cupboard, drawer or safe that you can easily reach. Not in the attic or a damp basement.
Tell one or two trusted people where it is
So they can find it when needed, without everyone having access.
Share the contents only with those you choose
The book is personal. You do not have to let anyone read it unless you want to.
Do not write passwords, PIN codes or recovery codes in the book
Not even in fields that seem meant for them. Note where you keep this information safely instead, for example in a password manager or with a trusted person. Avoid writing down ID numbers; note where an official document with that number is kept.
Update it now and then
For example once a year, or after a big event such as a move, a birth or a new job. Add a date.
Good to know: the book does not replace a will or power of attorney and does not give anyone automatic access to your accounts or your money.
